Thelma Jean (Hartry) Larsen Obituary (1940

Beloved wife & mother, Thelma Jean Larsen, 74, of Libby, left this world peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, September 19, 2014. Thelma was born August 3, 1940, in Wolf Point, Montana, to George and Christina Hartry. She spent the early years of her life in Culbertson, Montana, moving to Glasgow, Montana, along with brothers Morris, Floyd, Jim, and Jack. In her teens, Thelma drove stock cars competitively and at the age of 16, took 1st place in the powder puff division. Thelma met Leslie M. Larsen in 1954 and was married December 30, 1957. They resided in Hinsdale and Glasgow following employment until December, 1965, at which time they moved to Libby. After moving to Libby, Thelma worked at Henry's Restaurant and then at Rosauers in the bakery department. The entire family was involved in horse gaming events called O-Mok-Sees and Thelma enjoyed playing softball along with coaching little league teams. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting and, recently, thoroughly enjoyed watching Animal Planet and taking scenic drives with her loving hubby. Thelma is survived by her husband, Les Larsen, and children Dean, Libby; Bev (Randy) Cummings, Libby; Missy (Myron) Bursell, Fairfield, CA; and Cara (Jason) Heald, Missoula; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and dear neighbors/friends - Walt & Valerie Sweet. She was preceded in death by their daughter, Jackie DeLeo; her parents and all four brothers. The celebration of Thelma's life will take place at Libby Assembly of God Church located on 101 Collins Ave. on Thursday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the City of Libby Cemetery. Gathering of friends and family will immediately follow at Wilkinson Hall located next to the church on Collins Ave. Visitation will be at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home, 422 W 2nd St., in Libby on Wednesday, September 24th, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Online condolences and memories maybe shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
