PEARL J (HOBSON) HARK Obituary (1930

Pearl Hark, (nee Hobson) died peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and sister. She was 86 years young. Pearl was born on October 21, 1930 to Paul and Kathleen Hobson in Eureka, MT. She attended Lincoln County High School in Eureka, as well as schools in Washington State. In 1946 she married William Rettig, and moved with him to Noxon, MT. Together they had four children: Kathleen (Anne), William Jr., Susan, and Franklin. Later, she lost her husband and son, William and William Jr., in a tragic car accident. Pearl and her children returned to Eureka, and she worked for several years at the local Gambles store. In 1956 she married Robert Hark, and together they had three children: Melanie, Grant, and Mari. Robert and Pearl farmed for many years on Indian Creek, and Robert concurrently worked at the Eureka Forest Service, retiring in 1976. After retirement, they enjoyed living in Arizona for a winter. Robert passed away in 1978. Pearl was beloved by all who met her. She had an unfailingly kind and generous spirit, and opened her home and heart to anyone who needed a place to rest or a kind word of encouragement. She lived the word of God in all she did, and loved her children and her family dearly, caring for them with unfailing gentleness and generosity. A voracious reader, Pearl also had a passion for her flowers and her gardens. Her beautiful flowers were admired by many, and her bountiful gardens fed her family through many years. A wonderful cook, it was a joy to sit down to one of her delicious meals. She also loved to crochet, and her beautiful afghans, tablecloths, and doilies adorned many homes. Pearl will be dearly missed by her many friends and family. However, she leaves a legacy of love and light that will shine on forever. Pearl is survived by her sister, Judith/Al McCurry; her children, daughters Susan/Kenny Wiggins, Morgan City, LA.; Melanie/Joel Knadler, Lafayette, OR; and Mari Rocker, Eureka, MT; 2 sons Franklin Rettig, Bellingham, WA; and Grant/Debbie Hark, Eureka MT; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
