JOAN ARLENE (BARTH) NOWKA Obituary (1933

Joan A Nowka passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, in her home in Eureka, MT into the arms of Jesus. She was a wonderful, kind, and loving daughter, sister, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. Joan was born in Kansas on August 7, 1933 to William and Mildred (Schwope) Barth, the first of four children. The family migrated to California and took root there. She married Donald E. Nowka and together raised three daughters, Cindy, Sandy, and Dawn. Joan was feisty, independent, funny, and smart. She worked most of her adult life to fuel that independence. She was the center of our family, and we knew we could count on her for support, guidance, and wisdom. She had an unshakable faith that, was constantly in prayer for those with a need, and studied her Bible every day. Joan was preceded in death by her own parents, her husband Donald, her daughter Cindy Jo Nowka, two granddaughters, Jennifer Jo Martinez, and Stephanie Jo Emory. We know they were all there to welcome her into heaven. Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Nowka, Eureka, MT; Dawn Nowka, Abu Dhabi; her sister, Nancy Wilkins, Trego, MT; her brothers William Barth, Lakeside, CA; and Benjamin Barth, Quartzsite, AZ; her grandchildren Jason Martinez, Ginger Cole, and Emily Asaro, and great grandchildren Alex Cole, Kevin Cole ,Aryanna Cole, Uriah Cole, Glenn Metzger, Kiaunah Jenks, Evan Martinez, Colby, Mohammed, Sara, Shamma, and Shouq Alrashedi, and great-great grandchildren Brooklyn, Bentley, Cali, Ellie, Lilah, Dorian, Cypress, Mayleigh, Liam, and Aria. Incredibly, she never missed sending a birthday card to any of us through the years, though her family had grown considerably. She treasured us, and we treasured her. We will miss her so much.
